Community Development Worker, Organizational Development Specialist, Human Rights Defender and a Paralegal.

Ms. Josephine is the Secretary to the Board of Trustees at Disability Rights & Empowerment Trust (DRET).  She is also the Executive’s Director of the organization in charge of the day-to-day management of the organization, while ensuring alignment with the board’s strategic vision. She ensures efficient and effective implementation of programs as well as ensuring financial stewardship, monitoring performance and managing resources.

Ms. Josephine is an adept Human Rights Defender passionate about justice, equity, inclusion and wellbeing. She plays a key role in shaping DRET’s vision for a justice and human dignity for all. She enjoys working with the vulnerable people groups i.e. Persons with Disabilities, women, children and marginalized communities.

She brings with her over 15 years’ experience with practical skills in capacity building, advocacy, collaboration, project planning & management, community engagement, management and a firm human rights activist. Previously she worked for civil society organizations such as Spina Bifida & Encephalocele Trust as Executive Director, Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Association of Kenya as the National Coordinator and GOAL -Ireland Kenya as Skills Trainer. Josephine also serves in the board of Salama Den Solutions Limited focusing on climate action and renewable energy.

Josephine is a holder of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from The University of Sunderland – UK, an Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Development from The Institute of Commercial Management and a Diploma in Social Work, Project Planning and Community Development from the Regional Institute of Business Management.
